The Wall Street Journal: Biden administration to launch website about living with COVID in the future
WASHINGTON—The Biden administration aims to mark a new phase of living with Covid-19 and prepare for any future waves of infection when it makes public Wednesday a website where Americans can identify virus risks in their areas and recommendations for mitigating the threat.
The website, COVID.gov, aims to be a one-stop shop to help people get information on measures that could help protect them from the virus, such as local guidance for mask-wearing and where to find free masks, vaccines and clinics that offer tests and oral antiviral treatments, federal officials said.
President Biden and his administration have sought to shift away from mask mandates and other pandemic-era emergency measures and find ways to help Americans return to more normal lives. Mr. Biden listed the website—which will also offer services provided by earlier government sites, such as free rapid tests—as part of a recent blueprint for combating the pandemic and is set announce it in remarks at the White House.
“We know Covid will be with us for the foreseeable future, but it no longer has to control our lives like it once did,” said Jeffrey Zients, the White House’s departing Covid-19 coordinator. “Part of it no longer controlling our lives is making it even easier for Americans to access care and protections.”
